65th Japan Directors Guild Newcomer Award Announced
On March 2025, 3, the Directors Guild of Japan Board of Directors (Chairman: Katsuhide Motoki) decided to present the 26 Directors Guild of Japan Newcomer Award to Sorane Akira, director of "HAPPY END."

"The film 'HAPPY END' has a straightforward perspective that youth is not a process of growing to love oneself, but a process of growing out of love, something that seems to be lost these days. In other words, it shows that the individual is at the mercy of the world and history. I felt Director Sora's pride in this, and the power of his direction in the freshness of the young actors in the second half of the film. I can't help but have high expectations that he will continue to make great films."
